In absence of the president and officers at Rotary District Conference in Scarborough, president-elect Nigel Metham presided at the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Chesterfield held at the Olde House, Newbold, on Friday 5 October 2018.
Members were reminded that the Rotary sponsored Chesterfield Schools Art Exhibition was being held at St Andrews United Reformed Church, Newbold Road, over the weekend 6/7 October and were asked to support the event if possible. Members were also informed that Rotarianís wives and members of Chesterfield Inner Wheel were invited to attend the official Civic Visit of the Mayor of Chesterfield, Cllr Stuart Brittain, and Chesterfield BC chief executive, Huw Bowen, to the club meeting on Friday 19 October 2018. The next Club Council meeting will be held on Monday 8 October 2018.
The excellent work of Sheffield based charity, Support Dogs, was the topic of an illustrated talk given by Tess Thompson. This registered national charity is dedicated to increasing independence and quality of life for people with medical conditions, such as Autism, Epilepsy, and Physical Disabilities, with the held of specially trained dogs.
