Immediate past-president Peter Barr presided at the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Chesterfield held at the Olde House, Newbold, on Friday 14 September 2018.


Forthcoming events


Past-president Rob Wadd reported that he and his wife Joan, along with Inner Wheel member Margaret Meeney, were taking part in the ‘An End Polio Now’ sponsored walk, which is being organised by the Rotary Club of Sutton in Ashfield on Sunday 16 September 2018 along the Teversall Trail.  Any club entering just one volunteer walker will receive £350 for the cause from other sources, along with additional donations from all the club members who are generously sponsoring the event.


Derbyshire Air Ambulance


An interesting illustrated presentation on the life-saving work of the air ambulance in the East Midlands, covering Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Warwickshire, and Northamptonshire, was given by air ambulance volunteer, Richard McMahon.  After questions and answers, a donation of £250 was made, which is part of the club’s annual disbursements to local charities.  More information about the air ambulance charity here:

Next Meeting


The visiting speaker on Friday 21 September 2018 is Barbara Turner, from the Macular Society, Chesterfield.  She will also be presented with a donation as part of the club’s annual disbursements.  Speaker host is Charles Evans and duty rotarian is David Dolman.
