Friday lunchtime meetings

The president reported that following discussions by members at previous business meetings, Club Council had considered the issues raised and now wanted further members’ feedback before making firm recommendations for any changes.

The president re-affirmed his reassurance, given on his installation, that Friday lunchtime meetings would continue as long as members wanted them. Members noted that the cost of speakers was rising significantly, and their needed to be new club arrangements put in place for co-ordinating future club projects for community, vocational, and international service.  Following a discussion, there was a straw pole which indicated a favourable response to limiting external speakers to just two per month, introducing a second business meeting per month for considering and overseeing club projects, and having a rota of members to fill the after-lunch slot when there was a fifth Friday in the month.

Members noted, that following today’s feedback, Club Council will now put forward a formal recommendation for approval at the next business meeting.
