Joint-president David Dolman presided at the monthly business meeting of the Rotary Club of Chesterfield held at the Olde House, Newbold, on Friday 9 October 2015. He welcomed regular guest Frank Clifford, past-president of the Rotary Club of Bolsover.


Details of the club’s 93rd Charter Anniversary Luncheon, which is to be held at Ringwood Hall Hotel on Sunday 1 November 2015, were circulated.


A delegation of twelve had represented the club at the annual Rotary District 1220 Conference held at The Theatre & Convention Centre, Southport, over the weekend of 2 -4 October 2015.  These were joint-president Ian & Jackie Gaunt, secretary John & Pam Hare, past presidents Alan & Rita Clarke, Mike & Shirley Cudzich-Madry, Jim & Margaret Haggarty, Bryan & Heather White.
Conference Report presented by past-president Bryan White


Past-president Bryan White gave members a verbal report on the conference and reported that as usual it was a friendly affair and socially had been another success. He gave a flavour of the main messages from some of the key speakers.  This had included District Inner Wheel Chairman, Diana Sardesai, who suggested that Rotary and Inner Wheel clubs should consider working together more.  The 45th Rotary District Conference will be held at The Spa, Scarborough, on 30 Sept- 2 Oct 2016.


Past-president Geoff Mitchell reported that the community service committee was looking to appoint a new main organiser for future Classic Car & Bike Shows.  A smooth handover was being planned to take place during 2016 from inspirational past-president Stuart Bradley who was now standing down from the main role after many years of service.


The closing toast was proposed by joint-president David Dolman.


At the club meeting on Friday 16 October 2015 there will be a special presentation to the club’s ‘Citizen of the Year’.  The event will be hosted by David Windle and duty rotarian is Geoff Mitchell.
